Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

The void in Regent arcade where Globalise once was is being filled in. Hopefully this means the space has been leased. Mecca is opening in the former Forever New store in the mall leaving a very large vacant area in city cross as the stores either side are also vacant. I'm sure there are plans for ...

19/2/2019. This project is now as tall as its neighbour. Picture from near Wakefield St on far side of the square. Click on picture for bigger image. The short building on the left hand side (formerly known as the MLC building) was built in 1959 and was one of the first buildings from the Modern Mo...

The parking tax was to be used to fund public transport improvements only (ie, improving the alternate commuting option for those parking in the CBD).

Federal Labor will seek to extend for another 5 years the stay of Adelaide Zoo's pandas, who are due to return to China this year. The man waiting to be taking out with the trash, ScumMo, thought it was clever to slam the opposition for making the proposal while Queensland recovers from floods even...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I think the duplicated Southern Expressway should probably have had a toll because the primary benefit has been for southern suburbs commuters. But the economic argument for South Road proper is about free-moving freight and increasing productivity which benefits the entire state (and country) and s...

Surely prospective A-Grade tenants care about design prestige as well as large contiguous floor-plates? I thi...

Even the old AON Centre next door has that funky angular design and distinct blue colour going on.
No longer blue. Was sadly repainted grey over the last couple months.

The materials do look high quality and I'm glad the masonry has a white rather than beige cast. More diversity for our skyline. I hope the ceiling of the common areas ends up being copper/bronze per the render rather than the black that appears to be being currently installed. The warmer hue will pi...

Nope to both those options. Despite the very detrimental impact to the public realm, there's really no reason to engineer such infrastructure when a 2 minute detour round the square will do (with the added benefit of calming non-essential traffic in the CBD).

While I am all for a an upgrade when I saw the TDU Village [and other events] they need largely just a blank open space/grassed area for all the marquees etc. The original plan was pretty involved [see post #1629 above] with things like water features, native gardens, toilets, kiosk etc etc. What d...

I want King William Street turned into a two way road on the east of the square, with the western side turned into part of the square. With the upcoming Central Market renovation it would allow it to be tied together really well. I'm not wholly convinced by that layout (it was one of the options co...
