Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Took my usual tram home last night and the tram in front of ours couldn't get around the intersection because of cars blocking the tracks. Our tram waited at Rundle Street tram stop for at least 10 minutes waiting for the tram in front to move. I didn't really mind though, gave me more time to read ...

[ONH] Re: New Mayfield | 41-61m | 11-17lvls | Mixed Use

I work near this site and look down on it every day. From that last photo, was that frame structure the beginnings of the new development that is now on hold? I also walked past recently and noticed the display room has been closed and a new builders name wrapped around the building. It also appeare...

[U/C] Re: GPO Exchange | 85m | 22 Levels | Office

I agree that it does seem like a massive missed opportunity but would it be at all possible in future to extend the height of these buildings or would the foundations not be able to handle it resulting in a total rebuild?

Any word on what is happening with the heritage building and when work will begin on that?

Are the light towers getting re-used elsewhere? I heard they may be heading overseas. I hope they aren't just turned into scrap metal.

Thanks for clarifying that. I must admit I was driving at the time and didn't see the details on the sign but I didn't see it last time I drove past a week or 2 ago.

Drove past the former LeCornu site yesterday and noticed For Sale signs have reappeared on the Anzac Highway side. Does this mean its back to drawing board for this one?

Not sure if I've missed something here but google maps shows 29 Twin St as the Gays Arcade building. Is this proposal to demolish Gays Arcade or build it on the carpark site directly behind the Ibis?

This explains why when I walked past a week ago there were people there pulling off the advertising on the windows facing KWS.
So the Trims building survives another day?

Looks almost 1960's era. Looks a little similar to that building that goes over the Highline walking trail in the Meat Packing District in New York.

I work in the Allianz building next door and walk past the former Planet Nightclub everyday. Its such a waste to have it all sitting there doing nothing so I am excited about this proposal. I hope it does get built as it looks great.

[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

Glad they kept the carpet. I was contacting them to ask if it was being ripped up as I wanted to use a section in my lounge room as a rug. That is how much I love that retro carpet. Very happy to see also that they haven't tried to modernise the interior too much by removing the 1970's elements like...

Nothing seems to have been mentioned yet as to what is actually going to happen to the kilm and the "existing building" shown on the plans. What is going to happen with these structures? Hopefully the kilm is used for something special and not just locked up and given an exterior spruce up

Re: COM: [Glenelg] Bay Junction Shopping Centre | $60m

They already had a gorgeous, one of a kind, art deco theatre down there and now they want to replace it with this piece of crap a little further down the road? They had their chance to create a modern cinema with the existing facade allowing something different and unique but they blew it. I assume ...
