Re: News & Discussion: Trams

A rumour circulating during the week suggests that Adelaide will likely go ahead and bid for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. As the host city will be decided in September this year by the committee, and Adelaide is the preferred candidate already, we have to assume there is now a real chance of being ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

The state Libs have never wanted the trams, and would rather cancel them in favour of the 'trackless tram' brain fart if they could, so there won't be any more tram extensions until the next state labor government, unless the story about them being forced to build the North Adelaide extension by a ...

Re: The Federal Politics Thread

I also worked for a contractor that put there business into liquidation and continued on under another ABN. Not only can they save money in superannuation by doing this, they can also avoid their GST obligations. The irony of this situation is that a contractor could potentially save $100,000 by do...

So that's both major parties committing the same amount of money. Now it's up to the engineers to come up with the solutions on which option should be taken. Exciting times! The Federal Libs have now promised a total of 2.7b and Federal Labor only 1.2b. The State Libs will match the 2.7b with a loa...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

Im getting confused by everyone's number multiplication.

We want 3 lanes both directions right? ( in my head that is 2 x 3 or 3 + 3).

I would have thought that would be minimum in that part of the roadway.

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

This is where people need to stop basing their opinion on anecdotal evidence and listen to those with the facts. ACC have said its a money pit that is costing them a bucket load, they've also said it needs a multi million $ upgrade. So whilst I'm sure you're one day a week experience leads you to be...

It needs to be modified to the 'keyhole' arrangement. http://i64.tinypic.com/ftihra.png To me, Fullarton Road going east should be diverted down Flinders Rd (heading towards Bartels). Dequitivalle terrace is wide enough to accommodate 4 lanes going east which you could merge to three (so two turnin...

I was under the impression that the Britannia Roundabout issue was finished as is? Every time I've been through there lately the traffic has flowed and it's been easy to get through there. They "finished" their low cost alternative to an underpass of splitting it into two roundabouts, but I read th...

[PRO] Re: [PRO] Re: Goodwood/Springbank/Daws Road Intersection

There are issues with the Liberal version regardless of whether lanes are widened, and that you don't need to be an engineer to understand, e.g. turning right on to Springbank from Goodwood Road will still not allow all of the traffic that wants to get around to get around, even with two lanes (its...

[PRO] Re: Goodwood/Springbank/Daws Road Intersection

Do any of the people who " know " that the current proposal is wrong, inadequate or not as good as the previous version actually have any qualifications in traffic engineering, or are you all as ignorant as I am? i think the general issues comes down to why leave the dog leg there at all. If you ar...
