Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

I'm surprised there isn't a proposal in the pipeline for a solar power station near Wudinna, as far west (later sunset) as it is possible to connect to the grid, and scaled to the capacity of the grid flowing east. Interesting concept. I too have always wondered why there aren't more renewables com...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

Having to wear a wrist band to use public transport is counter intuitive.....you wouldn't wear it at home, you would take it off and put it down somewhere. Every time you left the house you would have to remember to take it with you. I am sticking with a transport card shaped like a credit card, alw...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Dedicated right-of-way rail (whether it be light or heavy rail) with an unimpeded pathway (ie a clear track) will always be a winner over buses. Any form of transport that has to "share a space with cars" is behind the eight ball from the start... BRT has its uses....obviously cheaper than rail but ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Waewick wrote Unless we get China money there will never be a decent train system in Adelaide. Its too easy to kill on economics. Like the tram system, the train system doesn't service the densely populated parts of Adelaide so it'll never get the patronage. Adelaide will never get a decent train sy...

I sincerely hope they don't. They should drop the few Glenelg / Ent Centre trams altogether and focus on two clear distinct lines.
Never going to happen with the current South Australian government....

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Did you mean "synchronous generators" or "synchronous condensers"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronous_condenser Ah yes, I meant "condensers" ....not generators. At present, most storage is proposed as an adjunct to individual renewable generators to allow them to bid deeper into the market b...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Well I believe that from 2020 it will be possible for South Australia to achieve 100% renewable power supply....... during the day ......ie wind and solar will supply enough energy to provide energy needs during daylight hours. At night time...there is not enough storage......hello SA government!!!!...
