[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

Trying to keep a balance, Marshall did say they will make a decision by the end of this year on the final stage for the final 10.5 km. The past work done by DPTI I don’t think included the (full) tunnelling option. When all the scoping reports etc are done I hope they divulge all the costings and pr...

Would these elms likely survive if dug out & transplanted elsewhere? Similar to what they do with date palms but I accept their root systems are very different. I also remember there was talk of a transplant for a historic Cork tree as part of the Norwood Coles re-development.

Just curious if anyone saw (or have pics) of anchors in the previous sections that collapsed? I didn’t, so I am wondering if that could have been the problem/oversight in the first place?

[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

I agree with all the earlier comments and wonder why the former Govt agreement with Walker has never been made public? I remember reading Walker would be paying for 2/3 of the public/civic area and 1/3 by Govt. Not sure if Walker actually now has a long term leasehold over all the land and can dicta...

Phantom, if the building isn’t built to the approved plans (and if picked up) it may stop it getting certified and occupied (ie no certificate of completion/occupation given). Potentially it could mean the buyers don’t/can’t settle and it could send the developer broke. Trying to get insurance for t...

Re: Cedar Woods Glenside

I think the other problem that causes this is the buyers are buying sight unseen and buying the floor plan. They can have glossy brochures and beautiful renders which don’t always represent how the finished product may look.

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

Maybe its due more to the supply side - developers obviously are able to get more rooms approved/built on a site than say apartments and so it may make the project more feasible. Also they can get away without having the onerous car parking requirements that apartments/zoning may require. Also if de...

[APP] Re: 51 Pirie Street | 114m | 28 Levels | Hyatt

Yes but my point was more about it being a Hyatt than the location for a hotel per se. I think the site is fine if it was a mid-tier brand (Sofitel etc etc). Would you agree/concede that the Pirie St location is a big step down for a 5/6 star hotel and from its former site along North Tce & facing t...

[APP] Re: 51 Pirie Street | 114m | 28 Levels | Hyatt

While I'm happy its happening it seems a strange place for a Hyatt. I have always found Pirie St at nights and weekends empty/dead with nothing much even open..I think North Tce would have been a more appropriate location or even 88 O'Connell St. C&G [with the previous Govt] had a hotel in their pro...

I think until the whole thing is finished it seems we will just move from one bottle neck to the next. I’d say 7-8 more years, maybe 2026-2027 to complete it all?

Provided they leave a clearway at the end of the line/don't build buildings in front of it, it could always be done in the next 50 years.

Any idea who the developer is? I’m surprised Le Cordon Bleu (next door) didn’t buy it as this student accom. building would partially block the view of the proposed towers to be built behind it (if it ever happens).

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Sounds plausible but how much demand is there for Henley Beach all year round. Also to get from airport to city and vice versa will take a long time. I think more a high speed express train direct from airport to city is the best option (possibly underground.)
