[APP] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use

I have heard a rumour that Maras has been chosen [or is at least the front runner] to develop this site.

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I am pretty sure Marshall has committed to making a decision by the end of this year (after all the studies/ reports) on how the last section of South Rd will be finished (ie tunnels vs underpasses/overpasses etc).

[COM] Re: The Bend Motorsport Park

I can’t believe “neighbours” complain about the noise! It’s 100km from suburbia - how far out do they have to go? Plus it’s only 1 “big” event (20k-40k people!) a year and they complain, I have heard it all.

If it’s SA water I doubt there is anything the developer or ACC can do. My experience is you just join the queue and their contractors do it when your job is next in line. Which is a shame if it could have been done before. Doubt any of the parties even communicate with each other (until it’s too la...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

I think this whole argument comes down to money. The Govt/Renewal SA sold this to the developer on the basis it wasn’t heritage/could be demolished (and was approved for such). Further, “the work involved in bringing the building up to a standard to meet current code requirements would cost an estim...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Yes I saw Solly Lew (owner of JJ) on TV saying they couldn’t agree with the landlord on the rent/new lease. Not sure if he wanted a rent reduction or wouldn’t pay increased rent. Anyone know who the owner of property is?

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

This was from Nov 17 from councillor Phil Martin, “Council has been doing the sums … and the upshot is that to do no more than repair and maintain North Adelaide aquatic centre could cost the ratepayers close to $15 million over the next 10 years. If you add operating losses, then it is likely the to...

Re: News & Developments: Henley Beach & Grange

Interesting about the train line.. what’s the chance it or light rail will ever come to Henley Beach? Would there be a wide enough route anyway?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

I think while the idea has merits it would be very hard for the council to justify or get a return on the $34m they spent on the land plus the cost to build (the last Aquatic centre cost $100m to build at Marion). Further the current one looses money every year. Similarly the Govt could buy out Next...

[VIS] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

It could work permanently for basketball. It has the tram at its doorstep and would allow the Govt to focus on (and save for) a rectangular stadium, which I think would be at least 5 -10 years away.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

I agree. Plus with both their own U-park (plus Targets) they will never close it. The best outcome may be during summer/spring to do what they do over Fringe - close it from Frome St to East Tce only on Fri night, Sat & Sun.

Ok that’s good. So is that Govt owned land now? If so I wonder why it wasn’t built wider/properly in the first place? I mean using another 5m would have been enough.

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I agree. It was poor that the T2T near the cemetery/River Torrens goes from 3 lanes to 2 and back to 3. With the Pym St exit/entrance they should hurry up and use the vacant land they own as well as demolish as much as allowable to widen the road (even if it’s only one side) well before they build t...

Re: Glenelg | Developments & News

I know Marshall made it an election policy to contribute the first $20m to the major re-development of the jetty (potential Hotel, Marine centre, blah blah blah). Nothing more has been said..anyone know anything?
