[U/C] Re: 203 North Terrace | ~115m | 35 levels | Student Accom
The structural engineers, Hera Engineering, posted the following on LinkedIn: Construction has started on a 35-storey (119m) student accommodation building at 203 North Terrace, in the Adelaide CBD. Once completed this will be the 4th tallest structure is South Australia. Hera Engineering is providi...

I hope there's not a cheapening of the design/finished product associated with this application.
Wishful thinking, but if there is, I wouldn't mind SCAP reconsidering allowing the existing building to be demolished.

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
I'm not going to bump its thread, but I noticed that the JWDT site is no longer active (developers behind 207 Pulteney Street). Given it's now 2 years since the last hint at the projects existence and the developers site no longer even seems to exist I wonder if we can finally drive a stake through...

[APP] Re: Which was Adelaides most significant decade for Infrastructure development
In terms of difference in the CBD, a tie between the 70's and 80's. In terms of impact to the suburbs, definitely the last 10. Unless you're talking purely about height, the 2010s saw more 40m+ highrises completed than any other decade. Numbers are something like this (including buildings outside t...

I suppose there's an element of truth in 'changing the skyline'. As a kid coming home from school westbound from Norwood, 45 Pirie St filled that picture, together with its huge ING logo (wonder if it's still there?). This new building will cover that up. By the way I'm struggling to think of a mor...

Who are the architects? Sorta evokes a slug for me, but it looks good and is great for the region. I imagine construction might be delayed somewhat, but I think it'll remain feasible even despite the pandemic given it'll be targeted at the high end, who will remain wealthy on the other side of this...

I quite like the art deco building that's currently on the site, so I wouldn't be too sad if this one didn't go ahead. The design is pretty average and 92m isn't particularly exciting anymore. I think it's pretty safe. Even the ones under construction are likely to have their opening dates postponed...

Wonder why there's such a stink about the height for this being updated on Wikipedia. Someone changed the InterContinental to 91m without any source whatsoever when Emporis states it's 87m.
That page is also missing West Franklin if anyone feels like adding it.

Can we please stop with the general nastiness on both sides? The nastiness seems to break out every once in a while and has been going on for the last few years now. It's draining to read and probably discourages people from contributing to the forum. I personally dislike this design based on the cu...

Anyone else think it looks a bit like the 123 Flinders Street proposal (before it became the mysterious 207 Pulteney)?
I wonder if the architects are the same (Pruszinski)?

The Sofitel will be a glass box. Adelaide Oval has no impact on the skyline. It depends on whether "best development this city has ever seen" is in the context of public or private development, and whether we're talking about skyline impact, or economic/social impact. Adelaide Oval probably wins fr...

I'm kind of surprised. I thought this would be less controversial than the Pirie Street hotel, but that one gets the go-ahead to demolish a nice old facade as long as they put a plaque in. Meanwhile, this one is sent back. I recognise that this design is fairly mediocre, and heritage notwithstanding...

43.5m tall and a fair bit less controversial than the Pirie Street proposal.

Unlike previous proposals for the site, they want to demolish the heritage building.
I can't really get behind that. What are others' thoughts?
