[PRO] Re: [PRO] Re: Ovingham Level Crossing Removal | $231m

Most of the Gawler line passes through "safe" electorates. There would be no votes in upgrading those stations. I assume electrification is because the diesel rolling stock is wearing out. This is why the infrastructure pipeline should be removed from government to be prioritised and managed throug...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

Has anyone seen the new mini Adelaide Metro buses? I don't mean the existing small buses they used which were the Mitsubishi Fuso's. I mean completely new mini buses, same width as a regular bus but about half the size. I saw a couple this week, looking flash and brand new in South Adelaide. Just v...

[PRO] Re: Ovingham Level Crossing Removal | $231m

Could it be that the absence of a major rebuild plan for Ovingham be due to the location of the station on a curved section of track, making compliance with modern rail construction standards which preclude curved platforms?

Thanks for that. Here are some photos are got of Adelaide and Mawson Lakes. Thanks for the photos which show recent progress in the electrification work. When exactly were the photos taken? The second photo shows insulator assemblies for a section switch which were installed during the weekend clos...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

How on earth is Stage 1 costing just under $200m given there's the ARTC line to contend with and Stage 2 is costing 2.5x times that where there's ample room for works? Makes no sense. Stage 1 Adelaide - Salisbury services would have been covered by the surplus electric fleet (4-5 units) from the Se...

[U/C] Re: Flinders Rail Link

As part of the Flinders Line construction the spaces beneath the train line have painted with murals. I wonder how long they will survive without being sprayed over by the taggers. If these murals end up becoming regularly tagged, it could be an interesting opportunity that every couple of years th...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I've noticed the survey pegs out at the elizabeth turn back track. I hope they can actually connect that track up because its not properly connected. The turnback is already fully connected for each direction of travel, it's just that the centre track extends a little north and south beyond the con...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

The schedule of closures which AdMet announced at the end of September covered the period through to October 2021. This schedule is still current on the AdMet website and is also displayed on notices at stations. Has AdelaideNow just picked up on this schedule or are there further delays envisaged ...

Gawler line blowout means more months on buses. Commuters will be put out for much longer after the government reveals a major overrun on the Gawler rail upgrade. Behind a paywall. https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/government-to-reveal-major-blowout-delays-in-gawler-upgrade/news-s...

AGL have confirmed plans to go ahead with a big battery on Torrens Island next to their gas plants. 250mwh is supposed to be the capacity but the maximum output is unknown. Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Lend Lease who are doing the Gawler line have now been taken over by Acciona, a Spanish company. That would explain the presence of Acciona rather than Lendlease vehicles around the works in the last few days. The acquisition of the Lendlease engineering arm was completed last month https://www.acc...

[U/C] Re: Flinders Rail Link

Surely the trains will run till midnight on the weekend? Lots of students coming back to their accommodation at the university plus shift workers at the hospital... Plus all the people who need to connect to a bus.... 2288 is 52 x 44, so is consistent with 44 extra services per week. That could be ...
