[COM] Re: 1 King William St | Facade Upgrade | $12m

Are those tile spacers I can see on the part of the building where cladding has been removed? Did the cladding have to actually be replaced, or have they just exposed the surface beneath? Cladding that tower was an awful decision. 1 King William was once one of Adelaide's most attractive and timele...

[COM] Re: 1 King William St | Facade Upgrade | $12m

I wonder if this means that 1 KWS was one of the buildings affected by the combustible cladding issue (SA's resolution to which being to remove the affected cladding to 3m above ground level)? I didn't think this ground-level cladding looked like it had an aluminium skin so it could just be that thi...

Re: Glenelg Ferry & Cruise ship terminal

No, there's no shipping of any kind which uses Brighton Pier - it's for pleasure only. It has a large fairground at the end, two 'pavillions' with arcade machines and restaurants along it's length, as well as a variety of small kiosks and such. An abominable mess of what was once a grand Victorian p...

Re: Glenelg Ferry & Cruise ship terminal

If we built a new Glenelg Pier with the same scale as the Brighton Pier in England, it would extend out to the tyre reef. also roughly the same length as the dock the Spirit of Tasmania uses in Melbourne https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/af/Brighton_Pier%2C_Brighton%2C_East_Sussex%2C...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments

Decent location just off of Henley Beach Road but I'm not too sure how I feel about the design for this one - it's certainly different but I can't quite see how it ties in to the existing local architecture (but then again how do you design a multi-storey apartment building which complements federat...

[U/C] Re: 11 Frome Street | 135m | 37 Levels | Crowne Plaza / Adelaidean | New tallest

I think that might be it - according to the renders earlier in this thread there are fourteen floor levels above the 'open' floor (I think this is the break between the hotel and apartment sections yes?) - judging by the last photo posted there are 9 levels with glazing and a further 5 behind the fo...

The screens they've put up around the Torrens/South Road intersection/bridge and so on.. why couldn't they have had them powder-coated in the same colour as the brown poles that they screwed them on to instead of plain old silver? Would have looked much better as opposed to the after thought they l...

Small point - levels 3-6 of RMP are existing office space, Level 2 is the planned 'health and well-being centre' above H&M (there has been a bit of work going on there recently judging by the noise but haven't seen any sign of tenants moving in), Level 1 comprises the upper level of H&M and the food...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

That ferris wheel will be as successful as the one they had at the beach house. So this ship is going to be restored, and remain on land? Why not restore it so it can be back in the water, like the old ship in front of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre? Looks like they're planning for it to be set in...
