Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

The words Fibre, copper, coax are not all that important, it is their application that matters. Copper can reach a dedicated 10 gigabit/sec with off the shelf readily available hardware right now. Plenty of Fibre hardware has been 10 megabit/sec. For nbn, fttp might be capable of 1gigabit/sec but hf...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

Of course the disconnection would not happen. They have extended disconnection windows before eg for hfc issues. Telstra and Optus also have embargoes on complex works that started today. eg cat c ports or connections etc. This typically only occurs over christmas. This is due to lack of man power m...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

Only two places should be open during a lockdown, supermarkets or stores where people can buy groceries (food etc.), and hospitals/medical centres. And the truck companies that move their stock. And the warehouses where the stock comes from. And the producers and importers of the goods. And the mec...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

America still fly staff to Pine Gap with no 14 day quarantine required right now.
We have freight from overseas with pilots and captains on board arriving.
There is no blanket ban ever. Freight and any other service deemed necessary will be allowed.

Re: SA Economy

Plenty of highly successful businesses are based in SA. Well known names like Santos, Adelaide Brighton, Peregrine, Thomas Foods, Elders, Drakes, San Remo, Coopers etc. And massive companies maybe you don't always see the name of like Bionomics, Beach, Oz Minerals, Detmold, Kilbirnie, Peoples Choice...

It seems a little silly but Gawler mostly has to drive 3km on Two Wells Road right next to the express way to access the express way.

All the roads in question have clearway during peak hours.
The roads have no issue during the day with the lanes that remain open.

Re: [PRO] Re: Glen Osmond and Fullarton Road intersection upgrade

If we accept Portrush Road needs to be widened, why can it not be widened along the eastern side of the road? This would be far less disruptive. Most of the land that would need to be acquired is currently occupied by unattractive, open air car parking. Power substation relocation is horrendously m...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

Maybe getting Portrush Road capacity up will help when we get to linking the freeways. Eg if Cross Road had significant restrictions Portrush Road traffic would significantly increase.

[PRO] Re: Glen Osmond and Fullarton Road intersection upgrade

Portrush Rd is a major freight route.
I assume the benefit is reduced wait times to cross the intersection.

McIntyre Road has always had significant problems. It gets cut back and new bitumen every few years to relevel it. The same work will likely be due again by 2023.
Clearly the road has structural problems but no one has done better than continued patch work to relevel.

The heritage listing is because the structure met a range of criteria under the Act. "Significance The Birkenhead Bridge across the Gawler Reach of the Port River was completed in 1940. I don't mind the attacks, I think they only strengthen what I am saying.
When an argument is weak and lacking facts it is typical to resort to attacking the man instead of the subject.
Posts that lack simple presentation skills such as punctuation also assist the opposite side.

AFC has shown its concept plan and I believe ACC is working through if there is legal and community support for that idea now. I don't think it offers anything great to the community but my opinion is not the only one that matters. My opinion barely matters at the best of times ;) I don't believe it...
