Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Does anyone know why the trains aren't running tonight? Is this something to do with the Gawler electronication or just regular maintenance. Are all lines affected or just the Gawler line? All lines are affected as the signalling centre is shifted to Dry Creek from the SAHMRI 2 site. During that ti...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

This Labor opposition is really no better than the Liberals were in opposition. The way they are phrasing it is to blame the current government for everything, including price rises for food and drinks. I also think the Footy Express services will continue, but it will be interesting to see how they...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Ha! Good comment. I think a few years ago the business case model didn't stack for a North Adelaide extension. I think it said the majority of residents are wealthy/own cars and don't/won't use public transport. Further there was limited reason for those that use PT to actually travel there. I thin...

[U/C] Re: [U/C] Re: Oaklands Crossing | $174m

Weren't they planning to rebuild Oaklands station above grade rather than below grade? It seems like the previous time they upgraded Oaklands station wasn't that long ago. The above ground station was mooted a long, long time ago. Below ground has been the favoured option for years now. The station...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Victoria Square to the Railway Station (approx. 1km, but it was down King William Street and North Tce) was $21million IIRC. It wasn't that long ago - I don't know that the cost of building to Outer Harbor would be $50million per kilometre in today's money. It might have been $21 million in 2007......

Most critical infrastructure already has batteries and generators for backup. That includes hospitals and mobile phone towers.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

The other good point about the city underground connector would be a better connection with a future North-East Rail Line (which will replace the O-Bahn). They could even do both in 15-20 years when the useful life of the O-Bahn expires.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

The 3000-class railcars won't be going electric anytime soon, their diesel motors have just been replaced. And I still believe that the Outer Harbor and Belair lines should remain as heavy rail.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Cost is not the only factor that will be considered. If there is a higher benefit ratio in getting the train line further east, they will (or should) do it.

I wonder why? :?:
Elder Park would have been packed to the brim at night. Too dangerous to have trams there with that many people.

I think the construction of freeways is a lot better these days then it was 50 years ago. A lot more sensitive and considered towards the existing environment, a lot more landscaping and so forth.

I think a 20 percent renewables target is different to a guarantee... Unless I'm wrong on that front.

I believe an agreement was reached that the Adelaide 500 will be the first race of the year until 2021 or 2022.
