Re: Beer Garden

Chinese students studying here then returning to China could be just as much Australian influence on future China as it is Chinese influence on Australia. Doesn't seem to be the experience unfortunately in recent years. The CCP do a very good job of monitoring Chinese students in Australia and stif...

Re: Beer Garden

The CCP trying to influence Australian Politics has been an ongoing issue for years. Unless the Australian economy becomes less reliant on exporting raw materials to China, taking in higher education students from China, and consumers demand for cheap goods made in China decreases, I'm not sure how ...

[APP] Re: 64 Currie Street | 92m | 25 Levels | QT Hotel/Office

I quite like the art deco building that's currently on the site, so I wouldn't be too sad if this one didn't go ahead. The design is pretty average and 92m isn't particularly exciting anymore. I think it's pretty safe. Even the ones under construction are likely to have their opening dates postpone...

Re: Beer Garden

So do people want to take guesses how many developments will be cancelled? My feeling is all this will likely have long term ramifications, although those aren't yet clear.

Is it safe to guess that all the hotels not yet started are probably on hold indefinitely?

cruise ships have been the spreaders They've been a major cause but community transmission is happening now. Once that begins it becomes exponentially more difficult to control. Also, as Rev said, a reasonable number of people with the virus can be asymptotic and inadvertently spreading the virus w...

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

Any chance parts could be reopened for coronavirus patients? Or are we past the point of now return for the site? Only the residential wing remains structurally intact but I believe it has already been stripped internally. But the government has already requisitioned the old Wakefield and Golden Gr...

As I said in another post, I think this all definitely has the potential to decrease future office projects.

[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

I think one thing this pandemic will likely prove is that a lot of office jobs can easily be done from home just as effectively. It's' possible a lot more employees will demand to work from home and employers may also see the benefit in them doing so i.e. cost saving on the size of offices they leas...
