Will this roof be good for anything once/if the place is bulldozed and a multipurpose arena built in its place? It would be such a waste otherwise.
Multipurpose arena is most likely to be built elsewhere.
If we are to build an arena over 10,000 seats, it will also require the demolition of Next Gen and the Indoor Cricket Centre as well as Memorial Drive ... a huge inconvenience for all 3 parties.
Another famous full price half measure from the state Liberals, the multipurpose court stadium should absolutely be built where the centre courts are now, no need to do anything to the indoor cricket centre because it'd fit just fine - the current Memorial Drive 'stadium' is no longer fit for purpose, and knocking it over for a modern stadium is the diametric opposite of inconvenience for Tennis SA

Totally agree, just a waste of money, do it properly the first time or not at all

I'm hoping they build a main fully enclosed/indoor arena next to it where Next Gen and the car park is, and the existing tennis 'stadium' serves as a secondary arena for tournaments. Having an actual tennis complex and not just a single arena with some outdoor courts would help secure international tennis events for Adelaide. Who knows, maybe one day we will have a big enough tennis event that would justify a third arena being built on the other side of the outdoor courts on Oval 2.

Well this upgrade is already resulting in us getting an ATP and WTA event next year.
