Anyone have any idea what is happening with the former Masters site at Colonnades Noarlunga? Kaufland maybe? Costco should go here, but I've been told they like to make their own custom buildings...

Also, the new building being constructed next to the Youth Centre and Dominos at Junk Food corner Reynella, anyone know what this is?

Charity AnglicareSA to build new Panorama community housing estate

A leading charity will demolish a decades-old housing estate at Panorama and redevelop the site with more than 30 dwellings, including a four-storey apartment block for people with special needs.

AnglicareSA has lodged plans with Mitcham Council to redevelop the Ontario Ave site it has owned since the 1960s.

It has also bought a house at 18 Ontario Ave to expand the footprint of the “affordable community housing” project.

Under the plans, the current single-storey housing would be demolished and replaced with 10 two-storey townhouses and a four-storey “supported accommodation” complex with 24 apartments.

Of those, up to eight apartments would be purpose-built for people with a disability and one for support staff.

Many of the remaining apartments and the townhouses would be affordable housing for AnglicareSA’s clients aged 55 and over.

AnglicareSA chief executive Peter Sandeman said the current housing was outdated and no longer suitable.

“We need to ensure that our homes meet the requirements of existing residents as well as the future demands of our community,” Mr Sandeman said.

“Access to safe, secure, affordable and well-located housing is fundamental to people’s wellbeing.

“We purchased the neighbouring property, creating a site to develop an appealing, modern community housing development complete with sufficient on-site parking and green, open space.”

Under the plan, which still required approval, three trees would be removed and a large, central, shared garden created, as well as 45 carparks.

AnglicareSA held a meeting with Ontario Ave residents late last year, with some raising concerns about the development’s density, the affect on the streetscape, the number of people who would be living there and the potential for increased traffic.

Mr Sandeman said AnglicareSA had “taken on aspects of the feedback obtained through that consultation process” before lodging the final development plan with Mitcham Council.

“We’re excited about creating a high-quality residential development that not only meets the needs of our residents but increases the appeal of the entire neighbouring area,” he said.

The final budget was yet to be finalised.

If approved, the new homes were likely to be available for occupation by mid-to-late 2020.

Community consultation on the plans closed at 5pm Wednesday January 23.

Works have restarted in the Flagstaff Pines development at the top of Flagstaff Rd, they were originally ceased years ago, where they left a big ass elevated dead-end, after a small housing block because of a fight over a planned shopping centre. Not sure what the outcome of that was, or what they're building now.

An Autobarn was constructed alognside the new Bunnings at South Road, Edwardstown. Bunnings itself looks set to open within 1-3 weeks.

The Caroma building on Magill Road has been demolished. It’s a huge site.

The old Industrial Springs Factory on the corner of Port Road and South Road is currently being demolished. I'm not sure how big the site is any more as I think it was recently sub-divided. The section covered by 341-345 Port Road (i.e. the old art-deco office part of the site at the corner of Port Road and Rose Street - highlighted in blue on the below map) has an a development approval for the "Demolition of existing buildings and construction of two storey building comprising consulting rooms and office with associated car parking, advertising signage and landscaping". That'll make three separate clinics in about 100m of Port Road.

In other western-suburbs related news, the old Shearer factory site has apparently been bought by the neighbouring glass factory and will be redeveloped for storage/warehousing. Such a shame given its location right next to Kilkenny rail station and the McInerney Reserve.

The City of Charles Sturt released consultation documents today advising that they are considering selling the southern part of Aroona Road to the factory, which would cut off bike and pedestrian access to the redeveloped reserve (and whatever ends up on the Bianco's site) from Port Road.

All a bit short-sighted in my opinion...

Pity the glass factory could not have been "incentivised" to move out to Wingfield. I imagine the cost to move the plant though would be astronomical.

$40m redevelopment of the Hackney Hotel could start in July
APRIL 10, 2019

Construction could begin as early as July on the first stage of the $40 million Hackney Hotel redevelopment.

Works are planned to start on the 125-bay car park, 29 apartments and commercial premises — including a cafe, bottle shop and grocery store — and will take 18 months to complete.

All commercial activities will cease to operate from July and reopen a year later.

The Eastern Courier Messenger revealed last August the State Government’s State Commission Assessment Panel ticked off on the multimillion-dollar plans, which includes a six-storey apartment complex, a 50-bed, four-storey hotel and six, two-storey, “luxury sky townhouses”.

V-Three Hackney director Ruan Perera said the entire project — across four stages — would be delivered in three years.

“There’s a bit of overlapping with stages,” Mr Perea said.

“The number of car parks could also be expanded a little bit more.”

Mr Perea said he was looking to source “local operators” to run the supermarket and a “cellar-style” cafe.

“We want something that’s quite different,” he said.

“We’re in discussions with some really good local operators, but we’re not in a position to announce yet.

“There’s some really good people in South Australia at the moment.”

Future residents can access six electric bikes — sourced through a NSW-based company — and three electric cars, supplied through a “high end” local dealer.

“Neighbours could join the scheme also,” he said.

“It’s designed for those doing less than four-hour trips (in the car) and for the bikes, you would have to return them at the end of the day.”

Seven apartments in the “Flour Mill” section of the project are now on the market.

The top left of the red box isn't part of the factory, it's a mechanic. And the corner of Kilkenny Road/Port Road is a bunch of different businesses.
And Aroona Road doesn't continue on from David Terrace to Port Road like that, despite what the map shows.
It's blocked off by a fence and gate off David Terrace. The plan is to have a new road for the trucks to exit onto either David Terrace or Port Road.
As for the Bianco site they've tried redeveloping it before, don't expect any action there until a certain resident either gives up bitching and moaning, moves out, or dies.
